Welcome to Banbridge District u3a Website
NEXT GENERAL MEETING - April 9th - AGM
Welcome
Banbridge District U3A offers a programme of educational and leisure activities to people no longer in full time employment. Educational qualifications are not required to join and none are awarded. What is essential is that members contribute their own experience, interests and enthusiasms actively, so that they learn from each other. There is a general meeting held on the second Tuesday of each month from 2pm. We have a guest speaker who joins us each month with an interesting topic. New members are always welcome. Please read the information on the Membership page. Although Banbridge District U3A is part of a national movement, it is an autonomous organisation with over 90 members who have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities. About the U3A
U3A is the University of the Third Age, a self-help organisation for people no longer in full time employment. It provides educational, creative and leisure opportunities in a friendly environment. There are local U3A's all over the UK, which are charities in their own right, run entirely by volunteers. Local U3A's are learning co-operatives which draw upon the knowledge, experience and skills of their own members to organise and provide interest groups in line with the wishes of the members. The teachers learn and the learners teach and the U3A approach to learning is - learning for pleasure. There is no accreditation or validation and there are no assessments or qualifications to be gained. History visit to Benburb Priory

Activities
U3A's consist of a number of interest groups which run weekly, fortnightly, monthly or just occasionally, meeting in halls, members' houses or at outdoor locations. They cater for a very wide range of activities, reflecting the interests of the membership. Group facilitators look after the practicalities of running a group, for example in matters concerning membership, premises and refreshments. Each U3A is different, with the activities on offer depending on the skills and interests of the members. In Banbridge District there are a wide selection of interest groups including:
