Guided Tour of Carlingford town, Priory and Castle
Our History Group enjoyed a beautiful day in Carlingford on October 14th, organised by Margaret, on holiday, but ably led by anchor man Sean. We enjoyed the expertise of our guide Gerry and his right-hand man Peter, the holder of the castle keys no less. Gerry was a fount of knowledge regarding the history of Carlingford, the coming of the Norsemen and the invading Normans. One of the highlights of the day was getting access to King John's Castle, which had been undergoing safety repairs and visitor improvements for several years to enable public access. Well worth the effort!
